RUGBY

Rugby...what can I say....It lives up to everything it has promised over the years of others' storytelling and injuries that paints its picture. A combination of football and soccer; rugby is a rough sport. I have to give it to them...you are considered an athlete after your first round of the game...you could also be considered somewhat of a warrior....these guys held nothing back. Hits so hard you could hear the grunts and groans from across the field...with no pads remember...these guys kind of remind me of the UFC fighter types..."balls to the wall," adrenaline seekers....well i guess that's what I would stereotype any two people that get into a fenced in octagon with one another and beat each other to a pulp as. These guys just gave off that Ora you know...the one that reeks..."yeah I just showed up this Saturday to run full speed into someone carrying a ball, with no pads or helmet and I don't get paid to do it," type of Ora. "You know...I like get out on my spare time and get punched in the face a bit, possibly break a bone and get my body drug to the ground by two guys that are here for the same reason I am...for fun..because they are enthused by pain." These images were taken at a rugby tournament in Ocean Beach. San Diego State University's 1st and 2nd string teams participated in the tournament, along with other numerous local rugby teams. No fights, just a few bumps, scratches and bruises.
